Explore MorePura Tirta Empul is considered one of the most sacred temples in Bali as Balinese people believe that it holds magical power within. The spring bubbles up into large, crystal-clear tank within the temple, formed by God of Indra to heal his dying armies that fell from Mayadenawa, the evil king. It is a place that is famous for its holy water ritual where everyone can dive into a large pool and lined up to the pouring of holy water. For that, the temple itself holds a very sacred ambience. To get there, it takes only 30 minutes drive from The Udaya with normal traffic.
Bali Mas Village, a village known for its artistic ethnic wood carving. Considered as the bridge between humanism and naturalism, here, you will be able to learn more about wood carving and how precious it is, especially to the society of Bali. The village has produced Bali's biggest name in wood carving and continues to pass on the legacy to younger and newer stars. In this ancient village, you may observe and even learn from the masters themselves about one or two things about wood carving!
Ubud’s representative of waterfall site, Tegenungan Waterfall, is located in Sukawati district. It takes around 10-minutes walk down to the main star from the entrance, where the verdant valley surrounding the beautiful cascade breathes. Just like any other waterfall, people aims to swim to the freshening water pond just below the falls. Or one can simply stand face to face with the mother nature’s gift and still get the best experience from there.
One of the famous agro-tourism in Bali is coffee plantation, with the one nearest to our hotel; Alas Harum in Tegallalang. Visiting this coffee plantation, you will be able to look at the process of Luwak coffee production and many other interesting discoveries about the unique coffee that is produced from palm civets. Coffee tasting is also available and an interesting past-time for coffee lovers. Aside from coffee adventure, you can also enjoy the well-known Bali swing inside the area and the beauty of its area.
Your journey to Ubud would not be complete without walking down the paved hiking path of Campuhan Ridge Walk. This famous hiking spot is a 1KM hiking trek with the scenery of green hills, jungle, and paddy fields and is located in Jalan Raya Campuhan, easily accessible from Ubud Center. It is the perfect place to catch sunrise or sunset while being surrounded by the greeneries of Ubud. Our pro tip is to visit early in the day, around sunrise, to have the place to yourself! Celuk Village, the gleaming village home to gold and silver craft made by Balinese artisans. Made up of rows and rows of art shops and workshops, displaying numerous jewelry and souvenirs made from gold and silver with relatively cheap prices. It is the perfect place to look for unique souvenirs to take home as you may experience making your own gold or silver craft or ask for a custom-made one from the highly talented artisans. To witness their entrenched excellency, you can also watch the making behind it in their workshop that usually formed as traditional houses where numerous artists gathered and craft.
Pura Taman Saraswati or known also as Ubud Water Palace is one of the most popular landmarks of Ubud. The most notable feature of the temple is its lotus pond and water garden, marking the outer area of the actual temple. Plumeria (frangipani) trees decorate the edges of the pond, while the straight bridge-like access is decorated with paras (volcanic tuff) sculptures of Hindu mythological figures. There is also Balinese Dance that performed regularly there. Pura Saraswati Ubud has a stage to eradicate Balinese dance such as the Kecak dance. Stage performances are surrounded by lotus ponds. Balinese dance performances are performed at Saraswati Ubud Temple with different types of dance every night. Except on Friday, there are no Balinese dance performances to watch.
Located in Tampaksiring, Ubud, Gunung Kawi Temple is an ancient sacred temple complex hidden in between lush paddy terraces and gorgeous green valleys, overlooking the sacred Pakerisan River. It is a famous temple complex for the grandiose collection of ancient shrines carved directly into the face of a towering rock cliff. As it is considered a sacred place for Balinese, the complex is used to also make offerings and pray therefore dressing up properly is needed to enter the complex.
Goa Gajah or Elephant Cave is located near Teges, Gianyar regency. The temple is not very large in terms of complex width, yet still holds numerous beauty of interesting ancient-old carvings. The cave entrance carving that portrays a giant mouth and the history behind it successfully puts it into UNESCO World Heritage's list in 1995.
One of the must-visit when coming to Ubud is Ubud Sacred Monkey Forest. Habited by more or less 900 long-tailed Balinese monkeys known as Macaques, visitors will be able to interact with the monkeys while enjoying the scenery of Ubud's tropical forest and observing how the monkeys will swing in between the trees and canopies. Do take caution of the guides' words as the monkeys can be quite playful! Considering that you will be entering a jungle full of monkeys, avoid using oversized jewelry and or accessories.
Ubud Art Market, locally known as Pasar Seni Ubud, is practically the highlight of the uphills' mini downtown--Ubud Center. It showcases numerous shops that sell everything about art and general stuffs, from shirt, hat, statue, unique ornament, to the famous handmade woven bag and still more to mention. To explore the whole area, visitors need more than one day considering the number of shops they own. Shopping becomes mandatory when one steps inside the market area, or at least to art lovers. Balinese souvenirs are somewhere to be discovered with plenty variation to choose. This place is also interesting for you to take a break and enjoy each minute of it as you stroll around to appreciate the artistry of locals.

The ever ending span of beautiful, well organized green lush brought the field as one of the Cultural Landscape of Bali Province UNESCO World Heritage Site. Trekking activity should be considered a must when visiting Tegallalang RIce Terrace, not to mention the famous giant Bali swing that everyone seek for their Bali's adventure. Reaching there should not be a problem from The Udaya as it only takes about 15-20 minutes drive with regular traffic condition.
